Mutual ties, economic cooperation, as well as latest regional developments, including Syria crisis and the recent tension between Tehran and Riyadh will be discussed during the visit, according to the report.
It was earlier announced that in line with efforts to decrease Tehran-Riyadh tension Steinmeier will visit Iran to prepare grounds for a dialogue between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The top German diplomat will also later visit Riyadh to attend a cultural event there and confer with Saudi officials as well.
The crisis erupted between Riyadh and Tehran after execution of a prominent Shia cleric, Nimr al-Nimr by Saudis on January 2.
Following al-Nimr’s execution, angry Iranian protesters attacked Saudi embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad. Right after the attacks on its diplomatic missions, the Saudi Arabia said it severed ties with the Islamic Republic.
