Turkmenistan ups passenger transportation
Turkmenistan increased volume of cargo transportation by all
kinds of transport in January-May 2015, the State Statistics
Committee of Turkmenistan reported.
The growth rate in cargo totaled 100.2 percent, passenger
transportation – 109.2 percent, according to the data.
The growth rate on rendering services for the reporting period
amounted to 129.1 percent, according to the ministry of road
transport. The dynamics of growth in cargo transportation by road
transport stood at 103.4 percent, in the passenger transportation
sector - 106.4 percent.
In January-May, the growth rate of rendering services reached 118.1
percent, according to the State National Service Turkmen airlines.
Indicators on cargo and passenger transportation by the airlines of
the company amounted to 103.8 percent and 107.6 percent.
The growth rate on implementation of works and provision of
services for the period amounted to 130 percent, according to the
State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan.
The plan on cargo transportations was exceeded by 72 percent,
passenger transportation - by 14.8 percent.
Turkmenistan shares land borders with Kazakhstan, Iran, and
Uzbekistan, as well as Afghanistan and on the Caspian Sea with
Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran. In recent years, regional
transport projects have intensified.
A ceremony of launching a new steel main pipeline Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran took place in December 2014. This corridor will open access to Central Asia and the Persian Gulf for the countries of Europe and Asia.
