Uzbekistan, EU seek to boost co-op

Uzbekistan and the EU reaffirmed their commitment on the development of bilateral relations in a number of areas in the course of the eleventh meeting of the Cooperation Council between the European Union and Uzbekistan in Brussels on March 18.

The Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported that a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, including the implementation of the agreements reached in 2011 during the visit of President Islam Karimov to Brussels were discussed at the meeting.

The parties have confirmed the similarity or identity of ratings and the assessment of all considered subjects, in particular on the EU Strategy for Central Asia.

Views were also exchanged on the situation in Afghanistan and other relevant international and regional issues.

The Uzbek delegation was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov, and the EU delegation by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic (Greece), chairing EU Presidency Evangelos Venizelos.
