Georgia, Latvia boost coop  in military education

The Georgian Defense Ministry reported that Georgia and Latvia are deepening cooperation in military education sphere.

The issue was discussed at a meeting of Georgian Deputy Defense Minister, Irakli Gegechkori and Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of Georgian Armed Forces, Brigadier-General Vakhtang Kapanadze with a delegation of the Latvian Defence Ministry on October 28.

The sides discussed the training of officers of the two countries' armed forces.

The Latvian side said that its soldiers will periodically take courses in summer and winter trainings in Sachkhere Mountain Training School and the Georgian soldiers will learn the specifics of mine clearing in Latvia.

The sides scheduled a cooperation plan for future, which covers management training, divers' trainings, working out actions in the mountains and close cooperation in the military- analytical sphere.

Later, the Latvian delegation met with the Trainings and Military Education Commander Lieutenant Colonel, Shalva Bajelidze, and the Rector of the National Defence Academy of Georgia, Zurab Agladze.

They familiarized the Latvian colleagues with the military education system. The Latvian delegation will also visit National Defense Academy in Gori, Georgia Military College and Sachkhere Mountain Training School as part of the visit.
