Afghanistan on agenda as CSTO leaders meet in Moscow
The situation in Afghanistan will be on the agenda when leaders
of member countries in the Collective Treaty Security Organization
(CSTO) meet for a summit on December 19 in the Russian capital,
Moscow, Radio Liberty reported.
The CSTO brings together Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
Uzbekistan earlier this year suspended its membership in the
organization.
Regarding Afghanistan, officials said the meeting is expected to
focus on preparations for what could emerge in that country as
international combat forces prepare to withdraw in 2014.
The meeting is also expected to discuss Kyrgyzstan assuming the
CSTO's rotating presidency.
Moscow is also playing host to a summit of the Russian-led Eurasian
Economic Community on December 19
