BMI and Austrian Airlines stop flights to Iran

British Midland International and Austrian Airlines have
announced that they will stop flights to Iran in October, Janan
News reported.
The BMI will cut the flights as of October 1 and the Austrian
Airline will cut as of October 10.
The BMI, which is affiliated to the British Airways, has said that
the decision has been taken due to high costs of fueling in other
countries as the Islamic Republic stopped fully refueling the BMI
flights at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport in retaliation for the
refusal of western oil companies to refuel Iranian flag carriers at
several European airports.
Last year due to worsened diplomatic relations between the UK and
Iran UK, Kent International Airport prevented an aircraft from
Iran's national airline to make refuelling stops on return journeys
from the Heathrow airport.
In December 2011, EU accepted additional sanctions against 179
individuals and institutions associated with the Iranian
authorities. The decision was taken at the meeting of the EU
countries FMs in Brussels.
The IAEA Board of Governors adopted a resolution on November 18,
calling on Iran to open access to the agency's experts to nuclear
sites and insisting on greater cooperation between Iran and the
Agency.
