Iran continues to fight the smuggling of clothes, going as far as closing down illegal foreign brand stores across Tehran.

"The plan is very good and can support the domestic producers," said the head of Garment Union, Abolghasem Shirazi, Trend reports citing ISNA.

Iran has boosted the efforts to confront smuggled branded clothing since last week. While the operation has not faced any resistance with regards to taking down advertisement boards for smuggled branded clothing, some officials in the country's garment union underline the existence of a few that resist this approach.

The head of Iran's Headquarters for Combating Smuggling of Goods and Foreign Exchange Ali Moayedi announced last week that the advertisement boards of smuggled branded clothes have been removed from Tehran.

"Around 80 percent of operation was done without any resistance in Tehran,” he said.
