Bilateral talks between Uzbek Defense Minister Abdusalom Azizov and counterparts from Belarus and Azerbaijan took place in Tashkent, Uzbek media reported.
At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of the current state and prospects for the development of joint cooperation in the field of defense and military education, an exchange of views on strengthening mutually beneficial ties in the military-technical direction was held.
Uzbek Defense Minister Abdusalom Azizov stressed the willingness of the Uzbek side to cooperate between defense departments.
Uzbekistan plans to hold events with Azerbaijan aimed at sharing experience in the field of military education. Also, Uzbekistan’s military specialists will participate as observers at international exercises to be held on Azerbaijan’s territory.
At the end of the meetings, bilateral plans of military cooperation for 2019 were signed between the Defense Ministry of Uzbekistan and the Ministries of Defense of Azerbaijan and Belarus.
The plan of bilateral military cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus provides for official visits of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan to Belarus, further discussion of cooperation in the field of military topography, geodesy, cartography and navigation, training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel. Also, it is planned to hold joint Belarusian-Uzbek exercises in Uzbekistan.
On October 12, the 75th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the States Parties of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be held in the Palace of International Forums, Uzbekistan.
Heads of defense departments of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Armenia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will take part in it.
