Investments in food production rise in Kazakhstan

Investments in food production in Kazakhstan reached 38.2 billion tenge ($112 million) in the first five months of the current year, that is twice as much as last year, Kazakh media outlets reported on July 2.
The greatest volume fell to Almaty (31.3 percent of the total) and Kostanay (14.9 percent) area. In both regions, the volume of investments in fixed capital in the production of food products increased more than 3.3 times a year - up to 11.9 billion tenge in Almaty and up to 5.7 billion tenge in Kostanay regions.
The largest volume were invested by own business forces - 57.8 percent. Another 19.4 per cent is secured by bank loans and 22.8 percent fell for other borrowed funds.
The producers of the Almaty region and the key metropolis, Almaty, provided the largest contribution to the food industry in Kazakhstan - 26.1 percent. Another 12.7 percent fell on the Kostanay region. In total, the country produced food products for 627.9 billion tenge, which is 9.8 percent more than in 2017. Taking into account inflation, the growth in the physical volume of the food industry amounted to 6.3 percent.
In the long-term dynamics, a stable growth is recorded in the production of food products, both in monetary terms and in physical volume.
