Uzbek president attends informal CIS summit

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has recently participated in an informal meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Moscow.

The Uzbek president’s press service said in a message that President Mirziyoyev was welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Vladimir Putin, greeting the heads of state, spoke about the outcome of Russia’s chairmanship in the CIS.

He noted that important work was done this year in order to strengthen the mutual integration and enhance the authority of the organization.

President Mirziyoyev, for his part, said that this year Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the CIS countries has become even stronger, and the volume of trade has increased noticeably.

He also emphasized that the mutually beneficial cooperation closely links the participating states, and this meeting will give a new momentum to the development of these relations.

It was noted that the upcoming events in Russia in 2018 are important, and the people of Russia will vote for a worthy candidate in the presidential election.

Meanwhile, during the meeting, special attention was paid to the development of cooperation between the CIS states in various fields, strengthening security, preventing risks and threats for the region.
