Two Iranian oilfields to come on stream soon

Two oilfields located in the central parts of Iran, Sarvestan and Sa'adat Abad, will start production in the near future with the total projected output of around 15,000 barrels per day, Shana news agency quoted managing director of the National Iranian Central Oilfields Company Mehdi Fakour as saying.

The fields have started early production, he said, adding that the output will ultimately reach 25,000 bpd.

The two oilfields hold an estimated in-situ reserves of 1.402 billion barrels of crude oil, Shana reported.

10 wells have been drilled at the oilfields to date and two more will soon be ready for injection with natural gas, Fakour said.

The National Iranian Oil Company's managing director Ahmad Qalebani said that the country's daily oil and gas output is expected to be 5 million barrels and 1.47 billion cubic meters by 2015.

Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said earlier that the Iranian government should consider development of joint oilfields and increase the budget for developing them.

"The oil industry's infrastructure needs more than 500 trillion rials (about $41 billion) of investment to achieve the objectives of the 20-Year Outlook Plan," Qasemi was quoted as saying.
