US ambassador cites SOCAR's role in energy sector development
Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR has an important role in the
development of oil and gas sector, U.S. Ambassador Richard
Morningstar said at a meeting in Baku with SOCAR President Rovnag
Abdullayev on Tuesday.
Abdullayev noted that Morningstar is an experienced diplomat who
knows a lot about energy issues and is closely familiar with the
situation in the region.
Morningstar said that the scope of activities of SOCAR is
expanding and the company is strengthening its position in the
global market.
Abdullayev stressed innovations in the oil and gas sector, and also
noted that the U.S. has always provided great support to regional
and global scale projects.
The SOCAR president said that Azerbaijan can play a big role in the
energy security of Europe and informed Morningstar about the
progress in the implementation of the South Gas Corridor
project.
