Uzbekistan to spend $385m on boosting liquefied gas output
Uzbekistan's state oil and gas company Uzbekneftegaz will invest $385 million in projects to construct new liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants and overhaul the existing ones in 2012 and 2013, the company said.
According to a program developed by the company's experts, projects aiming to increase the production of liquefied gas will be implemented at the Mubarek gas refinery. In addition, the program envisions projects on the modernization of the gas fractionation system at Ferghana and Bukhara oil refineries and an associated gas utilization project at the Kokdumalak field.
In particular, by the end of 2012 it is planned to complete the construction of a propane-butane mixture plant at the Mubarek refinery worth $244 million.
When reaching designed capacity the plant will annually process 12 billion cubic meters of natural gas and produce 258,000 tons of liquefied gas and 125,000 tons of gas condensate.
The project to increase LNG production at Shurtanneftegas plant worth $74.3 million includes the expansion of a propane-butane mixture plant with capacity of 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year for the additional production of 50,000 tons of liquefied gas annually.
