Azerbaijan exports 39m tons of oil in 2011

Azerbaijan exported 39 million tons of oil in 2011, the governmental report for 2011 submitted to parliament says.

Azerbaijan received about 25.6 million tons (71 percent) of the total volume of sold oil produced by consortiums developing the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block of oil fields and Shah Deniz gas-condensate field in the Caspian Sea.

About 45.6 million tons of oil were extracted in the country in 2011 compared to 50.84 million tons in 2010. The reduction is stipulated by a large volume of operations carried out to tighten security on offshore platforms and underwater communications at the ACG fields.

Azerbaijan`s state energy firm Socar accounted for about 8.4 million tons of oil and 7 billion cubic meters of gas of the total volume of hydrocarbons extracted in the country last year. Moreover, the company received 5.4 billion cubic meters of gas from the ACG and Shah Deniz fields.

About 8 billion cubic meters of the total volume of gas extracted and received by Socar were sold in the domestic market and 2.3 billion cubic meters were exported.
