Dragon Oil’s Turkmen oil exports through Azerbaijan surge

Transnational company Dragon Oil, which has been operating in Turkmenistan since the mid-1990s, with the controlling stock owned by the UAE, transported most of the crude oil produced in Turkmenistan through Azerbaijan in 2011, the company said on Tuesday.

Dragon Oil exported about 11.4 million barrels of oil produced in the Caspian Sea from Turkmenistan in 2011, which is 6 percent more than in 2010.

Last year Dragon Oil supplied 99 percent of oil to the sales markets through Azerbaijan. In 2010, up to 60 percent was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
