Georgia to up imports of Azeri gas 30 pct in 2012
Georgia will increase imports of Azerbaijani natural gas by 30 percent in 2012, Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation General Director Zurab Janjgava has said.
According to Janjgava, the increase in gas purchases is part of the efforts to implement the Georgian president’s "Gas for every family" program and is due to rising needs for gas used in production.
Azerbaijan exported 800 million cubic meters of gas to the neighboring South Caucasus republic in 2010, meeting 55 percent of its domestic demand. The volume is expected to reach 900 million cubic meters in 2011.
