Ukraine ready to import 20m tons of Azeri oil – official
Ukraine said Thursday it was ready to import 16-20 million tons of oil per year from Azerbaijan and transport 13-17 million tons of the volume to other countries, Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reported.
Deputy Energy Minister Sergei Chekh told reporters that Azerbaijani crude is to be supplied under an agreement signed by the two countries’ governments that will be submitted to the Ukrainian parliament soon.
According to Chekh, 3 million tons of the volume will be used to meet Ukraine’s domestic demand, while 5 million tons will be shipped westward – to Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and the remaining 8-12 million tons will be transported toward Belarus.
