IMCA to hold briefing seminar in Baku

A free-to-attend seminar will be held by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) at the Hyatt Baku on October 6 in order to introduce IMCA, its role, activities and membership to companies active in Azerbaijan’s marine contracting sector, IMCA said.

"The briefing seminar is open to all interested parties and is aimed at IMCA members, oil company representatives, contractors, consultants and anyone interested in marine contracting within the offshore oil and gas industry," IMCA’s Technical Director, Jane Bugler said.

Following welcoming remarks by both IMCA and SOCAR, Chris Rodricks of SEAMEC, Chairman of IMCA’s Middle East & India Section will give an overview of IMCA. This will be followed by a technical update on IMCA activities by Jane Bugler; Mark Sutton of Topaz Marine will look at the use of IMCA documents by a contractor member company, while Guy Odell of Fugro, Vice-Chairman of IMCA’s Middle East & India Section will talk about safe and efficient ROV operations.

Four more presentations will follow the seminar – Gerard Wessel of Van Oord will speak on Azeri port development programs; Jane Bugler will give an overview on safety and lifting operations; her colleague Nick Hough, IMCA Technical Adviser – Offshore Survey, will talk about the work of the association’s Offshore Survey Division; and Ernesto Daza of BP will provide an update on BP’s Shah Deniz development project.

IMCA is an international association with well over 800 members more than 60 countries representing offshore, marine and underwater engineering companies. IMCA has four technical divisions, covering marine/specialist vessel operations, offshore diving, hydrographic survey and remote systems and ROVs, plus geographic sections for the Asia-Pacific, Central & North America, Europe & Africa, Middle East & India and South America regions. As well as a core focus on safety, the environment, competence and training. IMCA seeks to promote its members' common interests, to resolve industry-wide issues and to provide an authoritative voice for its members.
