Georgia seeks Azeri investment to build oil refinery
BAKU – The Georgian government is in talks with Azerbaijan on building a new oil refinery, Prime Minister Nika Gilauri has said.
He told a government meeting on Tuesday that Tbilisi is seeking investment for the project, and talks on the issue are underway with Baku.
Georgia's Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri told the press that drawing investment for the purpose will begin in April 2012. Crude for refining will be delivered to the plant from Azerbaijan, he said.
"Azerbaijan is our main and reliable partner. In my view, the plant to be built is viable for both Azerbaijan and Georgia."
