EU, Azerbaijan set up taskforce on key gas project
BAKU – Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev and European Union Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger on Friday signed a letter of intent to establish a joint working group to speed up the Southern Gas Corridor project.
The taskforce will address all issues related to the project implementation and provide information every two months to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, who signed a joint declaration on the Southern Gas Corridor in Baku on Thursday.
The working group will include experts from the European Union Commissariat and Azerbaijan. The taskforce will deal with legal, political, commercial, technical and other issues that could arise in the establishment of the Southern Corridor.
