BAKU – President of Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev has met a Japanese delegation led by Yoichi Kobayashi, Senior Managing Executive Officer of Itochu Corporation.
Kobayashi, co-chair of the Japan-Azerbaijan economic commission, recalled the fifteen-year history of successful cooperation in the implementation of a variety of projects both in oil and non-oil sectors. He underscored the importance of Azerbaijan’s Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli offshore oil project among other international projects implemented by the corporation. He also expressed the company’s interest in expanding its participation in the projects.
SOCAR President Abdullayev stressed the role of Itochu in the implementation of the joint projects and achievements in the oil and gas industry.
According to Abdullayev, SOCAR has received permission from the Turkish government to build a new oil refinery with the capacity of 10 million tons per year, which has created vast prospects for cooperation in this field.
Abdullayev noted that there were broad opportunities to deepen cooperation between SOCAR and Itochu, adding that his company would thoroughly study Itochu’s proposals.
