Azeri and Russian leaders agree to hold energy summit
BAKU – Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Dmitry Medvedev have agreed to hold a summit to discuss energy cooperation.
The announcement came in a statement by the Russian leader during a press conference following the two presidents’ meeting in Baku Friday. Medvedev did not specify the likely date of such a meeting.
Earlier in the day, the two leaders attended the signing of a supplementary agreement to the contract between Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and Russian gas monopoly Gazprom on boosting Azerbaijani gas exports to Russia in 2011-2012.
President Aliyev has vowed that Azerbaijani oil and gas supplies to Russia would continue to increase.
