New Nabucco deal to be signed next week: minister
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz has said a new agreement on implementing the Nabucco pipeline project that seeks to deliver Caspian and Central Asian gas to European markets will be signed next week.
Yildiz said no legal issues stand in the way of the Western-backed project but he did not spell out provisions of the document. According to the minister, talks on the issue are underway in Ankara and Vienna, with an emphasis on finding new suppliers for the conduit.
The 3,300-kilometer Nabucco pipeline, which is expected to come online in 2014, is to carry 31 billion cubic meters of gas annually, curbing Russia`s dominance on gas supplies to world markets.
We recall that the governments of the Nabucco transit countries - Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Austria - signed a historic deal in Ankara on July 13 on launching construction of the pipeline.
