Transit states should not re-export gas: SOCAR
An agreement should be reached among producers,
transit countries and consumers of natural gas that transit
countries cannot re-export the received gas, Rovnag Abdullayev, the
president of Azerbaijan`s state oil company, SOCAR, says.
``It is our [producer countries`] wish to have clear tariff rates on the transit countries in order to prevent these countries from re-exporting gas. These conditions will lead to the establishment of transparent relations between business entities,`` Abdullayev told a news conference during an energy conference in Astana, Kazakhstan`s capital.
Azerbaijan is currently holding talks with Turkey to conclude a transit agreement to export Azerbaijani gas to Europe. Abdullayev said the negotiations are nearing completion.
