French envoy thanks Azerbaijan for support to France over Nice attack

Azerbaijan has immediately responded to the terrorist attack in Nice, France, at the level of government and ordinary citizens, and this support is an evidence of the friendship between the two countries and peoples.

French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchez made the remark on July 18 during opening of a book of condolences at the French embassy in Baku.

“Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and other officials expressed condolences to France in connection with the terrorist attack in Nice,” said the ambassador. “In such a difficult moment, they expressed their support for us.”

A gunman at the wheel of a heavy truck plowed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the French city of Nice on July 14 night, killing over 80 people and injuring more.

The attacker, identified by a police source as a 31-year-old Tunisian-born Frenchman, also opened fire before police shot him dead.
