Azerbaijan joins PACE summer session

A group of parliamentarians led by head of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, chairman of International and Inter-parliamentary Relations Committee of Azerbaijani Parliament Samad Seyidov are visiting France to attend the PACE summer session in Strasbourg, Azertac reported.

The delegation includes Rafael Huseynov, head of parliament’s culture committee, MPs Elkhan Suleymanov, Sahiba Gafarova, Sevinj Fataliyeva, Ganira Pashayeva, Vusal Huseynov, Muslim Mammadov and Sabir Hajiyev.

After the progress report of the Bureau of the Assembly and the Standing Committee will be read, the participants will discuss the activity of democratic institutes in Turkey, culture and democracy, transparency and openness in the European institutes, violence against migrants, gender equity and other questions, as well as elect judges to the European Court for Human Rights.

Azerbaijan, which became the 43rd Member State of the Council of Europe joining the organization in January 2001, has been actively and vigorously cooperating with CE's all working institutions.

The PACE is a consultative body of the Council of Europe and meets four times a year for part-sessions in Strasbourg. The delegation of Azerbaijan is actively participating in and contributing to the work of the PACE, by attending and delivering speeches at plenary and committee meetings as well as by preparing reports of the Committees of the PACE.
