Qatar’s national holiday marked in Baku

The Qatari Embassy in Baku has organized an official reception to mark the country`s national holiday on December 16.

Opening the event, Qatar`s Ambassador Sayar bin Abdurrahman al Maawdah said his country goes through a period of political, economic and cultural changes.

Touching upon bilateral relationship, the diplomat noted “it is developing successfully”.

He stressed that friendly relations between Azerbaijan`s President and Emir of Qatar contribute to enhancing bilateral relationship even more, voicing confidence that cooperation between the two countries would deepen in economic, cultural and education spheres, as well.

Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov congratulated the people of Qatar on behalf of the government of Azerbaijan.

The minister said reciprocal visits gave a new impetus to steadily development of bilateral ties. Rahimov expressed hope that Qatar would be represented in the fourth Islamic Solidarity Games with a large delegation.

Officials, MPs, ambassadors and representatives of the society, attended the event.

The diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Qatar were established in 1994. After the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries the bilateral, regional and international co-operation has been developed. Under the agreement reached between the two countries in 2007 embassies of two countries has been established.
