More divers join search for missing oilmen from Guneshli platform
The search for the three oilmen missing since Dec. 4 after a strong storm at the Oil Rocks field in the Caspian Sea have been joined by another group of divers, said Balamirza Alirahimov, chief engineer at SOCAR’s Azneft production union.
Earlier, a strong storm washed a booth on the platform #501 of the Oil Rocks down into the sea. At the moment of the storm, there were three oilmen in the booth – Javad Khudaverdiyev, Bahman Jafarov and Rovshan Mammadov.
“The area around the platform #501 was completely explored as part of the searches, and the rescuers have started to explore the adjacent areas,” said Alirahimov.
The search involves a helicopter of the Emergency Situations Ministry, a vessel of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company, as well as a rescue ship and a towboat.
