Azerbaijani Army’s armored vehicles positioned in exercise area
By Sara Rajabova
The command and staff military exercises of all troops of the Azerbaijani armed forces are underway.
At the next stage of the command-staff military exercises, planned dislocation of various types of military equipment involved in the large-scale meetings on the specified routes has been carried out, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported on September 10.
Armed vehicles of military units that put on high alert, were withdrawn from areas of dislocation and in accordance with the requirements of the military transport, as well as in compliance with established standards, were deployed to the exercise area in the short term.
The command and staff military games are underway in Azerbaijan since September 6.
Up to 65,000 servicemen, 700 armored vehicles, 500 units of rocket and artillery troops, 40 aircraft, 50 helicopters of the Air Force, and 20 Navy ships and boats, etc. are involved in command and staff military exercises that will end on September 13.
Azerbaijan regularly holds military drills to check the training level and fighting capability of the army.
The Azerbaijani leadership empowers the military and has moved to formulate the necessary armament policy by adhering to international requirements.
Azerbaijan's military build-up is in line with the country's legal right to liberate its occupied lands by means of war, should it be necessary.
Azerbaijan's internationally recognized Nagorno-Karabakh territory turned into a conflict zone following Armenia's aggression in the early 1990s. As a result of an armed invasion, 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory fell under Armenian occupation. Nonetheless, the OSCE has attempted to foster a peaceful resolution to this conflict amid Armenia's persistent derailment.
