Some 259 people from 104 election constituencies have applied to the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan for registration of their candidates for participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for November 1.

This was announced by Chairman of the CEC Mazahir Panahov at a commission' meeting on September 8.

He said that the authorized representatives of 13 political parties and one political bloc, a total of 20 political parties, have already passed registration for the parliamentary elections.

The CEC made a decision that the candidates can use the services of Kapital Bank to open special electoral accounts in the territories where there are no branches of the International Bank of Azerbaijan.

"In this regard, an appeal to align the system of Kapital Bank with the IBA will be sent to Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov," Panahov noted.

During the meeting, the CEC also registered authorized representatives of political blocs and parties that will participate in the elections.

Some 57 people and six authorized representatives for financial issues from the "Azadlig 2015" political bloc, as well as 15 authorized representatives from the Democratic Reforms Party of Azerbaijan, seven from the National Independence Party of Azerbaijan, four authorized representatives and one for financial issues from the Social Welfare Party of Azerbaijan, and 38 authorized representatives from the Musavat party, 10 from the Civil Solidarity Party, and 18 authorized representatives and one for financial issues from the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan were registered for the parliamentary elections.

The Central Election Commission has already reviewed and approved 158 permanent representatives of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, 21 from the Civil Solidarity Party, and 10 from the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan for the upcoming parliamentary election.

Campaigning will start on October 9 and will end on October 31 at 8:00, exactly 23 days before voting as required by law. Campaign leaflets will be placed at polling stations until October 2.

All election documents necessary for the registration of candidates should be submitted to district election commissions from September 12 until 18:00 October 2.

Registration for election monitoring should be submitted to the CEC by October 22.

To conduct transparent elections, more than 1,000 cameras are expected to be installed in polling stations in Azerbaijan’s regions and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Some 296 cameras will be installed in Baku polling stations alone.
