President Aliyev reviews facilities for Baku 2015

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Mehriban Aliyeva, Chairperson of the Baku 2015 First European Games Organizing Committee, have reviewed the ongoing work at a bus depot and a training center of Bakubus for the First European Games, and at the Baku Sports Palace.

The head of state was informed about the work carried out in the bus depot and training center.

President Aliyev also reviewed the work carried out as part of a project on the complex restoration of Zigh Lake, AzerTag state news agency reported.

Following, the president and the first lady viewed Mercedes minibuses bought in order to carry high-ranking guests who will attend the inaugural European Games.

President Aliyev was also informed about new IVECO buses of Bakubus. It was noted that 302 French-made buses had been bought at the initial stage.

Afterwards, President Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva reviewed the progress of reconstruction at the Baku Sports Palace.

The biggest sporting event in Azerbaijan's history, the Baku 2015 European Games will attract more than 6,000 athletes to represent 49 countries in 20 sports.

The Baku 2015 Games will take place in 21 stadia and facilities in Baku and Mingachevir city. The official opening ceremony of the games will take place in the 68,000-seat Baku Olympic Stadium. The Athletes Village will accommodate up to 7,300 people.
