President Aliyev receives Russian Deputy PM

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin on June 19.

Addressing the meeting, President Aliyev said bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia had been developing successfully in various directions, including political, economic, humanitarian and other fields. He noted that constructive cooperation between the countries in the military-technical area had expanded even further, adding that this cooperation gave positive results and had good prospects.

Azerbaijan's president emphasized Rogozin's contribution to the strengthening of relations between the two countries as a co-chair of Russia-Azerbaijan joint commission.

President Aliyev described the growth of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia as a good result of the two countries' joint efforts to develop the strategic cooperation.

Rogozin, in turn, said he highly appreciated President Aliyev's views on the development of relationship between Azerbaijan and Russia in economic, trade and other fields, adding that the Russian side respects the relationships with the Azerbaijani people and state.

He expressed confidence that the cooperation with Azerbaijan would continue to expand and added that as a co-chair of Russia-Azerbaijan joint commission he would spare no efforts on this front.

The president also expressed confidence that thanks to the joint efforts of the two countries the bilateral cooperation would further enhance and the future activities of Russia-Azerbaijan joint commission would produce practical results.

Earlier, President Aliyev received Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The two sides emphasized the strengthening of the ties between the two countries.
