Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan to expand security co-op in Caspian Sea
By Nazrin Gadimova
Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan intend to expand security cooperation in the Caspian Sea, Kazakh Armed Forces' military attaché to Azerbaijan, Colonel Almazbek Bazarbayev said.
The colonel said this issue was discussed during Kazakh Defense Minister Serik Akhmetov's visit to Azerbaijan in late April.
Bazarbayev said currently, relevant documents are being prepared in this regard, and the issue is under negotiation between the sides.
"Currently, Kazakhstan creates its naval forces," he said. "New vessels and naval bases are being constructed. We have good relations with Azerbaijan in naval and civil marine spheres."
Currently, Kazakh students are studying in Azerbaijan's highest naval school. Moreover, Azerbaijan State Maritime Administration's Centre for Remote Surveillance controls the movement of Kazakhstan ships in international waters.
