Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tajikistan Abbasali Hasanov met with Tajik Education and Science Minister Nuriddin Saidov on January 27 to mull the education issues.

Congratulating the minister on his reappointment to the post, Hasanov extended greetings of Azerbaijani Education Minister Mikayil Jabbarov to his Tajik counterpart.

The Azerbaijani ambassador said education is one of the important fields for every nation, and exchange of experience among the students, scientists and professors would be helpful for both sides.

Hasanov also mentioned the possibility to use archive materials of the manuscript institutes of the two countries and the expediency to exchange the copies of various manuscripts.

Saidov, in turn, noted the possibility of student and professor exchange between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan.

He also mentioned that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an agreement in the education field during Rahmon's official visit to Azerbaijan on June 12-13, 2013.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on May 29, 1992. Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan increased by 2.8 times and amounted to $44 million in 2012. The two countries have so far signed nearly 40 agreements, including free trade, promotion of mutual investments, and double taxation avoidance.
