President Aliyev opens facilities in northern regions

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited Gakh region as part of his visit to the country`s north-west region on August 16.

The Head of State started his visit by placing flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Head of Gakh Region Executive Authorities Musa Shakiliyev informed President Aliyev about the construction work and landscaping around the monument.

The president opened a Shaki-Gakh section of the newly remodeled Shaki-Gakh-Zagatala highway as part of his visit to Gakh region.

Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov informed President Aliyev that the reconstruction of the highway started in 2010.

The two-lane road is 35 km in length, 7 meters in width. Reconstruction work included the building of a bridge over the Kumruk River. The construction of the bridge started in 2012.

The Shaki-Gakh section of the highway links 21 settlements of Shaki region with the total population of 28,000 people, and six residential areas of Gakh region with the total population of 2,000 people. There are 21 bridges over the road.

The president also inaugurated the Gakh Olympic Sports Complex.

Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov informed the Azerbaijani leader of the facility`s technical indicators.

Gakh Olympic Sports Complex has a 480-seat hall, offices and auxiliary rooms. President Aliyev viewed football, basketball, and tennis grounds.

The Azerbaijani leader then met local residents. Local resident, world all-round fighting champion Ramil Mammadli thanked President Aliyev for his care and attention.

The president opened Heydar Aliyev Center in Gakh region.

The construction of the facility started in November 2011. A statue to national leader Heydar Aliyev was installed in the foyer of the Center. The facility covers a total area of 670 square meters.

Heydar Aliyev Center has a 600-seat conference hall, an internet cafe, an E-library, and virtual rooms.

President Aliyev viewed an electronic map of Gakh region and electronic boards reflecting foreign visits of national leader.

President Aliyev attended a ceremony to commission water supply and sewerage system complex of the city of Gakh.

Chairman of Azersu Gorkhmaz Huseynov informed the president about the "Reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems of the city of Gakh" project. Huseynov said the foundation of the complex was laid on November 11, 2011.

The system is capable of supplying water and sewerage services to up to 21,500 people considering the natural growth of city population by 2035. In order to support population's demand for pure water, it is planned to use springs near the Ilisu settlement.

For this purpose, it was planned to build a central water drainage system working on self-propelling basis with the total length of 6.7 kilometers. As part of the project, six water reservoirs with 1000 cubic meters capacity have been constructed.

The collection and transition of the waste water will be fulfilled through 89.5 kilometers of sewerage pipeline and sewerage-pump stations. The waste water will be transmitted to the waste water purification plant outside the city, with transmittance capacity of 8,000 cubic meters of water a day.

President Aliyev then met with employees and constructors of Azersu.

The Head of State inaugurated the Conference Center of El Resort hotel as part of his visit to Gakh on August 16.

The construction of the facility started in 2011. The two-storey Conference Center covers a total area of 3,000 square meters. The facility has a 100 car-parking lot.

Construction of the five-storey building started in November, 2012 and will end in the end of 2013. The total area of the complex is 2.7 hectares.

The facility will have a bowling center, a bar, a 120-seat cafe, and a 240-seat restaurant. The facility will employ 60 people.

President Aliyev also visited Balakan region on August 17.

The Head of State started his visit by placing flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the Heydar Aliyev Park.

Head of Balakan Region Executive Authorities Islam Rzayev informed the president about the construction work and landscaping in the park.

President Aliyev attended the opening of the Balakan Center of Culture as part of his visit to Balakan region.

Construction of the center was launched in July 2012. The center will host theatrical performances, concert programs and also film screenings.

President Ilham Aliyev met with local public.

Speaking on behalf of Balakan residents, Sabuhi Algayev thanked the Head of State for his efforts to develop regions of the country, including Balakan.

The president opened a new office building of the Balakan Region branch of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP).

The building was constructed in a modern architectural style. The area of the two-storey building is about 1,000 square meters.

There are photos describing the activities of the founder of the New Azerbaijan Party, national leader Heydar Aliyev, and President Ilham Aliyev.

President Aliyev officially inaugurated a freezing warehouse complex in Katekh village as part of his visit to Balakan region on August 17.

Construction of the complex, which will play a key role in developing the non-oil sector and ensuring food security in the district, started in 2011.

With a total area of 1.36 hectares, the complex has 12 freezing chambers with a capacity of 1,417 cubic meters each.

The complex created 103 jobs at the initial stage.

Later President Aliyev visited Zagatala region.

Head of Zagatala Region Executive Authorities Mubariz Ahmadzade informed President Aliyev about the construction work and landscaping in the park.

The president opened kindergarten "Tumurjug" in Zagatala region.

The total area of the kindergarten is 785 square meters and of the area adjacent to it half a hectare. The kindergarten for 100 kids will have six groups. Construction has been carried out at a high level. To ensure continuous supply of hot water, an additional boiler house has been constructed. There is a fire alarm system and security cameras here as well.

It was indicated that the area around the kindergarten, which is fully suited for teaching, educating and entertaining children, has also been landscaped. Special recreation areas and a modern lighting system have been set up.

President Aliyev also reviewed the progress of construction of the Heydar Aliyev Center in Zagatala.

The construction of the Center had begun in April of this year. The building of the Center, being constructed in accordance with the highest standards, will have a museum, two conference rooms, a cinema, an online library, studios of folk dance, sculpture, design, folk art and photography, as well as rooms for various clubs and cafés.

Masonry work in the building has been completed, with roofing and plastering now under way. The courtyard of the building covering an area of 2,500 square meters will be laid with tiles, while an area of 4,700 square meters will be landscaped. There are also plans to build three swimming pools and fountains here. The construction of the Center is scheduled to complete in May 2014. The Heydar Aliyev Center will provide permanent jobs to 25-30 people.

President Aliyev visited the historical center of Zagatala city after it was completely overhauled.

The area called "historical center" covers a total area of 6.2 hectares, including Dada Gorgud square, Gala Duzu stairs, the Heydar Aliyev Avenue and a stretch of 28 May Street.

President Aliyev toured the Dada Gorgud square, where a 2.5 meter high-monument was erected to Dada Gorgud.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended a ceremony to pump drinking water to the city of Zagatala.

Prior to the ceremony, the President met with local residents, and congratulated them on the event.

Vafa Suleymanova, who spoke on behalf of local residents, thanked the Head of State for his care and attention.

Director of the State Agency for Rehabilitation and Restoration of Lands Ali Mammadov informed the president about the project of reconstruction of the water supply and construction of sewerage systems in Zagatala.

Once fully commissioned, the project will ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to a total of 75,000 people.

President Aliyev attended the opening of a new building of Bahmatli village comprehensive school after Aladdin Javadov as part of his visit to Zagatala region.

The president was told that the old building of the school was pulled down after it was damaged as a result of a strong earthquake in Zagatala on May 7, 2012.

President Aliyev laid the foundation stone for the Bahmatli village comprehensive school on September 9, 2012, which was built supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The construction work ended in August 2013.

The 600-seat school occupies a total area of 4,520 square meters. The comprehensive school has an auditorium, administrative rooms, a sports hall, a library, a football pitch, volleyball and basketball halls.
