Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva has organized an Iftar dinner in the Ramadan Tent ("Shater Ramadana") opened by Russia's Mufti Council on the occasion of Ramadan at the mosque near Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow.
Addressing an event attended by representatives of the Azerbaijani Embassy and diplomatic missions of other countries accredited in Moscow, members of the Azerbaijani community, believers as well as representatives of various nations, Chairman of Ikhlas Foundation Anas Mammadov spoke about the importance of the holy month of Ramadan and extended Eid Al-Fitr (feast of breaking the fast) greetings to the attendees.
The event featured screening of a documentary entitled "Tolerance in Azerbaijan" initiated by Heydar Aliyev Foundation VP Leyla Aliyeva and shot by Azerbaijani State Committee on Work with Religious Organizations.
Furthermore, a demonstrated video about Azerbaijan prepared by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation was of great interest to the participants.
Attendees of the event received Baku, AMOR, Irs magazines, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's publication on Azerbaijan, CDs on the country as well as postcards displaying Azerbaijan's landscapes.
The event also included an exhibition featuring Azerbaijani religious monuments.
Afterwards, a sura from the Holy Quran and an evening prayer were read and then Azerbaijanis and other Muslims in Moscow had a ritual breaking of the fast and tasted the Azerbaijani national dishes at a table set for 600 people.
Speakers at the event expressed gratitude to Leyla Aliyeva for organizing such an Iftar dinner.
The Ramadan Tent is an important project of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation implemented since 2009 by Russia's Mufti Council to strengthen friendship in Moscow and the regions of neighboring Russia, bringing together Muslims of different nations living in the multi-ethnic Russian capital.
