Swiss delegation tours Icherisheher
A Swiss delegation led by President of the Council of States Filippo Lombardi has visited Icherisheher, one of the world`s cultural heritage sites, in Baku, Azertag state news agency reported.
The delegation viewed the Maiden Tower, which was built in 7th-6th centuries BC. The Tower, 28m in height and 16-16.5m in diameter, features a cylinder-like real tower and a huge supporting construction.
The Swiss delegation viewed stone exhibits at Syrataghly Religious and Architectural Complex discovered in 1964 during archaeological excavations to the north of Maiden Tower.
They were informed about Icherisheher State Historical and Architectural Reserve, which was classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The Swiss delegation also walked through Kichik Gala street, and visited the 15th century Palace of Shirvanshahs.
