Barack Obama: U.S. committed to supporting Azerbaijan’s peaceful efforts on Nagorno-Karabakh
US President Barack Obama has congratulated Azerbaijani
President Ilham Aliyev on the national holiday - Republic Day.
"I congratulate You and the Azerbaijani people on the Republic Day.
On May 28, 1918 Azerbaijan has become an example for the
international community as the first democratic and secular
republic of the Muslim world. We also join the celebrations on this
remarkable date of Azerbaijan," President Obama's congratulatory
letter says.
The U.S. President said that there is a strong partnership,
particularly in energy and regional security between Azerbaijan and
the United States.
Barack Obama noted in the letter that the U.S. is committed to
support Azerbaijan's efforts to build a prosperous democratic
society and resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peacefully,
adding that the U.S. appreciates Azerbaijan's contribution in
supporting our collective efforts in Afghanistan.
"I convey the best wishes of the American people to You and the
people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of Your national holiday,"
President Obama's letter said.
