President Aliyev receives Georgian interior minister
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received on May 21
Georgia`s Minister of Internal Affairs Irakli Gharibashvili,
AzerTac state news agency reported.
The minister conveyed greetings of Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina
Ivanishvili to the Head of State. Mr. Gharibashvili said it was his
first visit to Azerbaijan as a minister, noting his country
attaches special significance to strategic partnership with
official Baku. He expressed confidence that Georgia`s new
government would make every effort to boost and deepen strategic
partnership and friendship relations between the two countries. Mr.
Gharibashvili said Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili made
one of his first visits to Azerbaijan, describing it as a vivid
evidence of the level of the bilateral relations.
President Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan and Georgia share ancient
historical ties, friendship and fraternal relations. The Head of
State said he was pleased with endeavors by the new government of
Georgia to further expand friendship and strategic partnership ties
with Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani leader said he would spare no efforts to further
strengthen these relations, and advance them.
With regard to cooperation between law enforcement agencies,
President Ilham Aliyev stressed significance of bolstering fight
against crime and promoting exchange of information.
The Head of State expressed his gratitude for the greetings of
Bidzina Ivanishvili, and asked Mr. Gharibashvili to extend his
greetings to the Georgian Prime Minister too.
