Heydar Aliyev Centre opened at Kiev university

The Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijani language and Culture Centre was opened at the Kiev National Linguistic University.

Speaking at the event, the rector of Baku Slavic University Kamal Abdulla said the centre, which is being opened on the eve of the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev, will promote the development of cultural relations between the two countries.

While speaking at the opening ceremony, chairman of the Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis Rovshan Taghiyev said that national leader Heydar Aliyev paid special attention to the education of Azerbaijani students in the world's leading institutions.

"Azerbaijani students began studying in the renowned universities of Moscow and other countries of the former USSR during Heydar Aliyev's period," Taghiyev said.

He added that the opening of the centre will create conditions to develop the relations between Azerbaijani and Ukrainian youth.

Head of the Council of Elders of the Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis Firuddin Mammadov said that the number of Azerbaijani youth studying in Ukraine has recently increased. He also stressed that the opening of the centre will have a positive impact on the development of cultural relations.

A letter of congratulations from the Azerbaijani embassy in Ukraine was read out at the event.

The centre was established with the support of the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy.
