Azerbaijani satellite to reach its orbit by Feb. 15

The first Azerbaijani satellite Azerspace/Africasat-1 will reach its orbit by February 15, president of Azerkosmos Rashad Nabiyev said at a news conference on Tuesday.
He said the tests will take about 20 days and in early March the satellite will be handed over to the management of Azerkosmos.
As Nabiyev said, today more than 40 per cent of satellite resources have been leased. The first revenues from the sale of satellite resources will be received in May.
Azerbaijan's domestic needs for satellite capacity stand at 20 per cent.
The company examined the foreign markets and accepted the proposals of many countries to buy satellite space. Preliminary agreements were reached with some of them to lease satellite capacity.
Azerkosmos takes part in international exhibitions, talks with TV port companies, as well as works with local TV companies to provide them with the latest satellite technology to reveal opportunities for selling Azerspace-1 resources.
