Azerbaijani leader meets Turkish parliament speaker

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met delegation led by the Speaker of Turkish Grand National Assembly (parliament) Cemil Çiçek on Monday.

"Azerbaijan is a shining star of the whole region, whole Caucasus, and it will keep shining in the future," said Çiçek adding that he saw significant progress and development in Azerbaijan.

The parliament speaker stressed the importance of Azerbaijan - Turkey friendly relations for the strengthening of stability and cooperation in the region. Çiçek also spoke about successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey in all areas including inter-parliamentary.

President Aliyev highly valued the role of Turkey in the ongoing global processes. He emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan-Turkey unity for the expansion of regional cooperation.

President Aliyev also said Azerbaijan-Turkey cooperation in political, economic, energy, transport, commercial and other fields contributes to the development of the whole region. The president also stressed the role of the Turkey-Azerbaijan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in the development of bilateral cooperation.

Aliyev said Turkey and Azerbaijan have close inter-parliamentary ties and support each other withinvarious international organizations.

The Azerbaijani leader said he hoped the Turkish delegation's visit to Azerbaijan will give another impetus to the expansion of bilateral relations.

The meeting also focused on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process.
