Azeri president opens new facilities in regions

President Ilham Aliyev visited several Azerbaijani regions on Sunday where he opened a number of facilities.

Aliyev started his visit from Tartar region in the west of Azerbaijan, most of which is under Armenian occupation.

The president paid tribute at the monument to Azerbaijan's late national leader, former President Heydar Aliyev in the center of Tartar. Head of the region's executive authority informed him about recent construction work in the region.

Aliyev also visited the National Flag Square in Tartar and was informed about the 65-meter high pole and the square characteristics. The flag is clearly visible from different parts of the region. A mother and child leisure center has also been constructed on the square.

Afterwards, the president inaugurated a newly upgraded 29km Yevlakh-Barda section of the Yevlakh-Khojaly-Lachin highway, which is to be completely reconstructed in 2013.

According to Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov, Yevlakh-Khojaly-Lachin highway will ease traffic in the direction of Tartar, Aghjabadi, Barda and Aghdam.

The president opened a two-story building of the Youth Center in the region, which had been under construction since May 2012. Aliyev was told of the conditions provided in the Center, a karaoke-disco, a cafe, interactive and pneumatic skeet-shooting hall, a 3D cinema, a conference hall and a language lab, as well as met with local youths.

Aliyev inaugurated the Gilan LLC milk factory in the Buruj village of the Tartar region.

The factory produces 20 tons of milk from five collecting points daily. The factory produces a number of milk products, which undergo lab tests. 50 people work in production, while 20 work in milk collecting facilities and 30 deal with sales.

The president also attended reopening of the Heydar Park after reconstruction and opening of the Heydar Aliyev Center in Tartar.

Afterwards, Aliyev arrived in Barda region and paid tribute to the monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city center. The president was informed of the redevelopment work carried out in the region.

The Azerbaijani leader took part in the inauguration of the Hero's Park in Barda. The park, covering 4.5 hectares, was reconstructed and has gained a modern appearance. The park now hosts the Heydar Aliyev monument, the Fire complex and the Mother monument.

Aliyev also made a visit to the National Flag Square in Barda city, which was established last year. The flagpole is 70 meters long.

The president visited the reconstructed central park of Barda, which was opened in June 2012. He also visited the Nushaba Park. Nushaba was a female-governor of Barda, and was a character in outstanding Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi's creative works. The 0.7 hectares park has Nushaba's monument.

Aliyev inaugurated the bread-baking factory Karabakh opened in the center of Barda. The 4 million manat (almost $5.1 million) facility was constructed as part of the state program on social and economic development of the country's regions for 2009-2013.

The factory working in double shift will produce 18.6 tons of bread daily for Barda consumers. 80 people are employed at the plant.

Further, President Aliyev arrived in Yevlakh region. The president visited the monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city center and was informed about the redevelopment work carried out in the region.

During the visit to Yevlakh, Aliyev opened the Regional Informational Center for physically challenged people, constructed on the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's initiative.

The Information and Communication Technologies classrooms with foreign equipment and educational centers and a library have been opened. This will expand the opportunities for the blind and visually impaired children to use Braille scripted books.

Teachers were specially trained to teach classes to the blind and visually impaired. Special computer software was translated, localized and established in the center.

The president also visited the reconstructed Boulevard leisure center located on the Kura River bank.

One part of the center sits on the river bank, while the other is on the overpass. Besides all facilities designed for rest, football and volleyball pitches were built and a beach is available.

Newly constructed Culture and Leisure Park named after prominent Azerbaijani poet and playwright Samed Vurgun was opened in Yevlakh with the participation of the president. The park ecnompasses 10,000 square meters with the monument to Vurgun in the center of the park.

The president also cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the Yevlakh bus station.

Situated on the ancient Silk Road, Yevlakh plays one of the key roles in the transport hubs of the country.

The Azerbaijani commander-in-chief attended the opening ceremony of Yevlakh's garrison and a host of residential buildings in a new military base of the State Border Service.

The full territory of the military base is 40 hectares. The president was familiarized with the modern facilities created in the six-storeyed barracks. It was mentioned that the canteen for soldiers is up to the highest standards. The hospital has all the required facilities, including those designed for surgeries.

The five newly constructed military residential buildings have 185 apartments, with all facilities available for border guards and their families.

After the Yevlakh visit, President Aliyev visited Zardab region where he opened the Heydar Aliyev Center. The total area of the center is 1,680 square meters. It includes photos, historical documents reflecting different stages of the life and activity of the national leader, his meetings abroad and regions of the country. A bust to the national leader has been also erected in the Heydar Aliyev Center.

The president also inaugurated the two-storied building of Zardab regional branch of the ruling Yeni (New) Azerbaijan Party (YAP). The Zardab branch was established in 1993.

Aliyev also took part in the opening ceremony of the Youth Center in Zardab region. The construction work cost 2 million manats allocated by the president in 2011.

At the end of the visit, Aliyev reviewed the process of construction work at Kullulu-Zardab water supply system.

The length of the part of water supply system passing through Zardab region is 72 km. 35,000 residents will be provided with water supply system.

The president also met with Zardab residents. The president also viewed conditions provided in the House of Veterans in the Heydar Aliyev Park.
