Aliyev appoints new envoys to European states

President Ilham Aliyev signed several orders on Tuesday, appointing new ambassadors to the Netherlands and Belgium, and heads of mission to the European Union and the Council of Europe.

Arif Mammadov was recalled from the post of Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative at the Council of Europe. By another presidential order, Emin Eyyubov was recalled from the post of Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the post of head of mission to the European Union, and was appointed to succeed Mammadov.

Fuad Isgenderov was assigned to represent Azerbaijan in Belgium and was also appointed head of mission to the EU.

President Aliyev also ordered to recall Isgenderov from the posts of Azerbaijan's ambassador to the Netherlands, as well as permanent representative to the Hague-based Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

According to another presidential order, Mir-Hamza Efendiyev will serve as Azerbaijan's ambassador to the Netherlands.

President Aliyev also signed an order on the appointment of Gabriel Valentin Comanescu as the Honorary Consul of Azerbaijan in the Romanian city of Constanta.

Azerbaijan has 55 embassies, 5 representative offices, missions to 18 international organizations and 9 general consulates abroad. Also, the country hosts embassies of 53 countries, 3 general consulates, 12 honorary consulates and representative offices of 20 international organizations.

New embassies have been established in Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, Serbia, Libya, Estonia and Croatia, and a Consulate General in Batumi, Georgia. At the same time, embassies of Hungary, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Argentina, Brazil, Czech Republic, Morocco, Netherlands, and honorary consulates of other countries have been opened in Azerbaijan.
