Hyundai Auto Azerbaijan assists children orphaned by car accidents

Hyundai Auto Azerbaijan, Korea-based carmaker Hyundai Motor Company’s distributor in the country, has provided assistance to children who lost their parents in car accidents, the company announced Friday.

Hyundai Auto Azerbaijan spokesman Firdovsi Khalilov told a news conference devoted to the outcomes of the "Hand in Hand toward the Future" project, launched this March, that over 45 families from Azerbaijan’s biggest cities – Baku, Ganja and Sumgayit – and eight regions of the country had applied for the assistance. The funds worth $100,000, allocated by the company, have been spent to assist 86 children from these families.

"We opened bank accounts for many of them," Khalilov said. "The funds in those accounts will be available to the children every month over a year’s time. Besides, the domestic problems of several families, such as repair and providing heating systems for their homes, were solved. Computers were purchased for a number of the children and some of them were provided with assistance in solving their health problems."

Khalilov added that the company also arranged children’s two-day trip to Azerbaijan’s Gabala region where they enjoyed pastime at the Gabaland entertainment center.

In conclusion of the project, a clip featuring the "Bir" (One) song by H.O.S.T band member Garagan (Elkhan Zeynally) was shot.

Konul Karimova, SS Production advertising agency’s public relations manager, said the song was not selected by mere chance.

"The song, performed by the young rapper, could be seen as a real call for benevolent deeds. It is for this reason that the clip with the "One" song was dedicated to Hyundai’s ‘Hand in Hand toward the Future’ charity project."

According to Karimova, five of the children featured in the clip are those who lost their parents in car accidents participating in the project.

Karimova said that with this clip and social advertisements placed on the streets of Baku, Hyundai highlights the main purpose of the project. "We sensed their heartbeat," she said.

The Hand in Hand toward the Future project is implemented in each country where Hyundai has a distributor. The project was implemented for the first time in South Korea in 2010. In Azerbaijan, it was also realized last year, and seven children whose parents died in car accidents were provided with one-time assistance of 17,000 manats (nearly $21,800).
