Senator: France is interested in peaceful Karabakh settlement

BAKU – France is interested in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peacefully, France-Caucasus Friendship Group Chairman, Senator Ambroise Dupont said at a meeting with Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker Ogtay Asadov in Baku on Monday.

The French senator said that last week he met with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairman from France, Bernard Fassier, and inquired about the talks.

The main purpose of Azerbaijan's foreign policy is integration into the Euro-Atlantic space, and from this point of view the development of relations with France is important, Asadov said.

He said Armenia should hold a constructive position in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

On Monday, Dupont also met with Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Committee on International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Samad Seyidov.

Dupont said that France condemned the murder of a nine-year old boy by Armenian snipers on the frontline.
