Hungary opens new embassy building in Baku

BAKU – A new building of the Hungarian embassy in Baku opened on Thursday.
The opening ceremony was attended by Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, Hungarian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zsolt Nemeth, vice-president of the European Parliament Laszlo Tokes, ambassadors of foreign countries.
Nemeth said Azerbaijan-Hungary bilateral relations date back to the 7th-8th centuries. Hungarian students studied at the Oil Academy during Soviet era. After regaining independence, such projects as NABUCCO and AGRI brought the two countries even closer.
Nemeth pledged Hungarian EU Presidency would do everything possible for Azerbaijan’s taking a well-deserved place in the European community. According to him, the EU closely cooperates with Azerbaijan under the Eastern Partnership program.
Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov said the embassies operating in both countries would help develop friendly ties even more.
Khalafov described Azerbaijan as a "reliable" partner for ensuring European energy security.
