Iranian embassy in Baku picketed

BAKU – Scores of people attempted to picket the Iranian embassy in Baku on Wednesday to protest what they call the neighboring country’s interference with Azerbaijan’s affairs and Iranian Sahar TV channel’s anti-Azerbaijani broadcasts.
The representatives of the World Azerbaijanis Congress (WAC) also condemned Iran’s developing its relations with Armenia, which occupies part of Azerbaijani territory.
The police prevented the protesters from approaching the embassy compound and took away their placards.
The pickets chanted slogans saying "Azerbaijan should be united, its center should be Tabriz" and "Down with Persian reaction".
Participants in the peaceful protest managed to submit a statement to the Iranian embassy and dispersed.
On Tuesday, over 100 Azerbaijanis living in Turkey protested outside the Iranian consulate in Istanbul. Some passers-by had joined the protest.
