Iraq condemns Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan (UPDATED)
BAKU - Iraq fully supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and condemns Armenia’s aggression, the newly appointed Iraqi Ambassador in Baku Hayder Albarrak has said.
The statement came in a meeting with Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Col.-Gen. Safar Abiyev on Monday, according to Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry.
Abiyev, for his part, said Azerbaijan was attaching importance to developing its relations with Iraq.
Armenia and Azerbaijan waged a war in the early 1990s which claimed some 30,000 lives. Armenia has been occupying over 20% of Azerbaijan’s territory since then, despite UN resolutions on unconditional pullout of its armed forces and condemnation by a number of other international organizations.
