Azerbaijan and Turkey to co-produce military equipment
Enterprises of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry signed two agreements with Turkish companies on the sidelines of the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX) being held in Amman, Jordan. The signing was attended by Azerbaijani Minister Yaver Jamalov and Turkey’s Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul.
One of the documents envisions joint production of nocturnal vision devices by the Turkish ASELSAN company and the Azerbaijani ministry’s enterprises at the Alov plant.
The other agreement envisages technical support by the ministry’s Radiogurashdirma (radio installations) plant and Turkey’s Makina ve Kimya Endustrisi Kurumu (Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation) for the production of ammunition and engineering works. Under the document, production of ammunition will be resumed in Azerbaijan with Makina Kimya’s assistance.*
